Ivor Rondee Ventura is a proud Garifuna Belizean entrepreneur, Punta Rock artist, and community leader whose life story reflects determination, resilience, and a deep love for Belizean culture.
Born on September 27, 1991, in the beautiful town of Dangriga, Belize, Ivor spent much of his childhood in the vibrant village of Hopkins, where he was raised among the rich traditions and values of the Garifuna people. Growing up in this cultural environment instilled in him a strong sense of identity, community, and pride in his heritage.
After completing his education, Ivor returned to Dangriga and pursued a career in law enforcement, serving as a member of the Belize Police Department. His years of service helped shape his discipline, leadership skills, and commitment to helping others.
Seeking new opportunities and driven by a passion for hospitality, Ivor later entered the bartending profession. He worked at Laru Beya Resort in Placencia, where he developed his skills in mixology and customer service, creating memorable experiences for guests from around the world. This experience would become the foundation for his future entrepreneurial journey.
Beyond his professional career, Ivor is also known as Derz McVey, a talented Garifuna Belizean Punta Rock artist. Through his music, he celebrates the spirit, culture, and traditions of the Garifuna people while inspiring listeners with messages of perseverance, pride, and positivity. His contributions to Punta Rock continue to strengthen and promote Belize’s cultural heritage.
Today, Ivor is the proud owner of Slide In Cocktail Bar in Dangriga Town. Built through years of hard work, sacrifice, and vision, the establishment has become a popular destination where locals and visitors gather to enjoy creative cocktails, good company, and authentic Belizean hospitality.
